Since 1991 Michael is a professional software developer working in different roles (Project Manager, Architect, Software Developer) in various industries (banking, insurance, tourism, aviation, automotive). For the last 3 years he is spending most of his professional time on cloud computing with public cloud providers in general and Docker, Kubernetes, Microservices, Cloud Native Architecture and Infrastructure as Code in particular.
He is currently contributing to automotive projects and pushing msg’s internal Cloud Computing training program. Besides that, he is a part time lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich, Germany.
Michael will introduce you to: Managing Cloud Infrastructures with Terraform and Packer
In a public cloud environment (like AWS or Azure) it is very easy to treat infrastructure as code and you should do so from day one. This session will introduce you to two popular tools by Hashicorp – Terraform and Packer – which can significantly simplify the provisioning of complex infrastructures like secure private networks and Kubernetes clusters. Concrete examples will show you: how to build your own Linux images for virtual machines, how to build your own Kubernetes clusters and how to setup pre-packaged Kubernetes clusters provided by public cloud providers.
